Report: Boost for Liverpool as Joe Hart won't play in Capital One Cup final

Paisley Gateway

Willy Caballero is set to star in goal for Manchester City.

Liverpool may just have been handed a huge boost to their hopes of beating Manchester City in the Capital One Cup final on Sunday afternoon.

The two sides clash in the cup final of the season, with the Reds keen to see Jurgen Klopp lift the first trophy of his Anfield reign.

Standing in their way will be City though, who are also keen to win the trophy as a parting gift for departing manager Manuel Pellegrini.

Klopp’s side are confident of victory though, having enjoyed a big win at the Eithad earlier in the campaign, a result which was arguably their best display under Klopp so far.

An their hopes of repeating that may have just been handed a huge boost, with City making a huge decision in their team selection for the game.

They are set to start with second choice goalkeeper Willy Caballero in goal over Joe Hart, with the Guardian confirming he will continue in goal on Sunday.

That comes, as something of a shock, with the Argentine having been less than impressive when called upon this season while Hart has continually impressed.

Indeed, last time around saw Caballero at his worst, as he committed several big mistakes in his side’s 5-1 loss to Chelsea in the FA Cup.

It is good news for Liverpool though, who will be hoping that he continues that kind of form up against Daniel Sturridge and co, with the striker in particular keen to impress.
