This snap of the stricken Man City ace is sure to please fans.

Manchester City have been boosted by the news that Kevin De Bruyne has trained for the first time without his knee brace as he steps up his return to full fitness.

The 24-year-old winger was ruled out for up to 10 weeks after suffering medial ligament damage toward the end of January.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini stated at the time that the Belgian would be back before the end of the season as it was not his cruciate ligament, and it seems like his comeback could happen sooner rather than later.

On Friday, a delighted De Bruyne took to Twitter and shared a picture of himself undergoing some light training without the aid of his knee brace.

The former Chelsea playmaker had been enjoying a fine first season at the Etihad following a £56 million summer switch from Wolfsburg, culminating in 12 goals and 12 assists.

De Bruyne will be hoping that he can pick up where he left off upon his return, as the Sky Blues, as it stands, sit fourth in the Premier League table, six points behind Leicester City at the summit.

Pellegrini's side will be firmly focused on Liverpool this weekend as they prepare for Sunday's League Cup final at Wembley.
