Report: Emilio Izaguirre open to leaving Celtic this summer

Celtic Stands

The Honduras international is seemingly surplus to requirements at Celtic.

The future of Honduran left-back Emilio Izaguirre looks increasingly likely to be away from Celtic.

A report from La Prensa suggested that La Liga outfit Getafe made a 'significant offer' for the left-back. The Spanish side were hopeful of bringing in the Honduras international permanently to strengthen their backline.

The report outlines however that Celtic decided that the player was to valuable to move on. That was despite his recent spell out of the first-team.

It was however reported by The Scottish Sun this week that Celtic are prepared to let him go this summer.

Now Tiempo in Honduras is reporting that Izaguirre, who was left out of the squad for the recent game against Hamilton, is open to an exit from Celtic this summer - and the coming days could be pivotal to his future.

The Celtic veteran has been in and out of the first team at Parkhead so far this season after some disappointing and inconsistent performances for The Bhoys.

In his place Celtic youngster Kieran Tierney has thrived and the 29-year-old is struggling to earn back his regular starting spot.

So Celtic moving him on would not be a surprise.
