The Swiss youngster will be hoping for some more playing time.
Newcastle United are not in action this weekend. The club were due to play Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday. However, with City in the League Cup final, that game has now been postponed.
Newcastle's next game is against Stoke City on Wednesday. It will be the first competitive game for Newcastle since they were humbled by Chelsea 5-1 on the 13th February, so the first-team players are still busy going through their training routines to ensure they are not rusty on return.
They have also been dealt some good news in the left-back department.
Rolando Aarons recently found himself playing in the position after injuries to Paul Dummett, Massadio Haidara and Kevin Mbabu.
Dummett's return has been known about for some time but it seems the young Swiss defender Mbabu is also back in contention.
The 20-year-old has been out of action since January with a thigh problem.
He did not travel to the recent training camp in Spain but it seems he is now nearing a return to first-team action - adding some extra options to the Newcastle defence.
