The Barca star's father refutes speculation that his son has extended his contract.
It was reported by ESPN Brazil on Thursday that the 24-year-old - whose existing contract expires in 2018 - had put pen to paper on a new deal which ran until 2021.
However, Neymar Sr has refuted the reports and insists that fresh terms will not even be discussed until May at the very earliest.
Speaking to Spanish media outlet AS, he said: "We hope that Neymar renews his contract.
"He still has two more years left and the fans can be relaxed during this time. Now we will begin to talk, but we have not sat down yet. We have spent so much time defending ourselves from accusations that it was too early to talk about renewing the contract.
"We are relaxed with all that we are doing at Barcelona and I believe the club are too. We will speak with [Barca president Josep Maria] Bartomeu in May and come up with a path for Neymar and Barca to take together."
In September, Spanish football expert Guillem Balague stated that Neymar was 'categorically' considering a switch to Old Trafford at some point in the future.
Barca will be desperate to stave off interest and retain his services, given that the former Santos starlet is one-third of perhaps the most formidable attacking trio in history.
