The Bhoys striker took to social media after Friday night's 1-1 draw at Hamilton.
Indeed, the 25-year-old scored for the Hoops as they drew 1-1 at Hamilton Academical. At the same time, however, Griffiths missed a penalty.
And, while Ronny Deila felt the goalkeeper had produced a good save against Celtic's top scorer, Griffiths took to social media suggesting he had taken a poor spot-kick...
Another poor penalty from me, hold my hands up, the best in the world miss pens, all about bouncing back now. Need 3 point Wednesday.— leigh griffiths (@Leighgriff09) February 26, 2016
In response, Adam Virgo defended Griffiths, suggesting Celtic would be nowhere without the 'brilliant' forward this season. The striker was grateful for the praise:
@Leighgriff09 been brilliant all season for Celtic dread to think where they would be with out his goals this season New direction next year— Adam Virgo (@Adamvirgs19) February 26, 2016
However, the 25-year-old went on to clarify his earlier tweet, apologising to fans and suggesting he doesn't think he's the best in the world...
Celtic are now seven points clear of Aberdeen but will see that lead reduced to just four if the Dons win their game in hand.
Another draw will no doubt disappoint Celtic fans and, while they remain in pole position in the title race, it looks as though there could yet be some twists and turns this season.
And with the previous tweet, no I don't think I'm the best in the world, but u see them saved, and they step back up. I apologise again.— leigh griffiths (@Leighgriff09) February 26, 2016
