Jermaine Jenas speaks highly of Tottenham Hotspur youngster Eric Dier.

Jermaine Jenas spoke highly of Tottenham Hotspur youngster Eric Dier on BT Sport/ESPN on Thursday night (February 25) following the Europa League last-16 second-leg tie between Tottenham Hotspur and Fiorentina at White Hart Lane.

“I was very impressed with Eric Dier today,” said the former Tottenham midfielder. “He is a player that keeps impressing me week in, week out whether he plays in centre-half or in the holding midfield position.

“I think he is one of those players that everybody looks to and they look back and they go, ‘I feel safer with Eric there’,” added Jenas. “He gets it, gives it and does almost the horrible things, but he does them very well in the game.”

Dier, who has been on the books of Tottenham since the summer of 2014, is one of the most promising and versatile young players in the Premier League.

The 22-year-old England international can play as a defensive midfielder, as a central defender or as a right-back.

The youngster started the match against Fiorentina on Thursday evening and played for the entire 90 minutes.

Dier took one shot, had a pass accuracy of 80%, and made three interceptions, three clearances and one block.

The former Sporting Lisbon youngster has scored three goals and created nine chances in 25 Premier League appearances for Spurs so far this season.

The Englishman has a pass accuracy of 82% and a shot accuracy of 33%, and has won 57 headers, five dribbles and 40 tackles.
