The Blues boss calls on the club's hierarchy to reward Jacques Maghoma with a new contract.
Rowett snapped up the 28-year-old on a free transfer last summer following his release by Sheffield Wednesday, reuniting him with the winger he worked with at Burton Albion for four years.
The jet-heeled Congolese attacker only signed an initial two-year deal, but the Blues boss is determined to have that extended based on Maghoma's performances so far.
"He’ll only have another year left in the summer and he’s certainly one at the moment that we’d be looking to tie down onto a longer and more rewarding deal because his performances have deserved it," he told City's website.
"He’s been brilliant for us so far but I’m greedy and I still think there’s more to come from Jacques. I think he should be scoring ten goals a season and setting more goals up because I know he’s got that type of ability.
"The process hasn’t necessarily started with the Club yet, but it’s started in terms of my conversations with him and other players, which is always where it would start. I would always be the first one to fight for the players to get them that reward."
In January, we brought you exclusive news of how Birmingham rejected a number of bids from an unspecified Middle-Eastern club for Maghoma, who has four Championship goals under his belt so far this season.
As it stands, Rowett's side sit three points adrift of Maghoma's former club Wednesday in the fourth and final playoff spot, ahead of Saturday's trip to QPR.
