Wolverhampton Wanderers defeated Derby County 2-1 at Molineux.

Popular pundit Danny Higginbotham has taken to social networking site Twitter to praise Wolverhampton Wanderers following their 2-1 home win over Derby County.

Wolves headed into the game under pressure following three straight defeats, and boss Kenny Jackett stressed the importance of both winning the game and winning over the home supporters.

Derby arrived off the back of two straight wins, yet they couldn’t keep their momentum going as the hosts’ impressive energy and endeavour helped them win the battle.

Two goals from midfielder George Saville either side of a superb Chris Martin free-kick for Derby was the difference for Wolves, with their winner coming in the final 10 minutes of play.

Writing on Twitter after the game, co-commentator for the match Higginbotham was impressed with the pressing and energy from the home side and stated how it was a deserved three points.

The victory takes Wolves momentarily up to 12th in the Championship table, 17 points clear of the drop zone before the normal round up of 3:00pm Saturday fixtures.

It’s a case of trying to entertain the supporters between now and the end of the season for Wolves boss Kenny Jackett, while blooding through more youngsters will bide him more time.

As for Derby, defeat leaves them in fifth spot and gives Birmingham City the opportunity to close in.
