Allardyce lost his job as Hammers boss back in May, and now takes his Sunderland side to East London in search of a vital three points.
The Hammers have been handed a major boost as playmaker Manuel Lanzini has returned from injury to take his place in the first team, having come on as a substitute in last week's 5-1 FA Cup win over Blackburn Rovers.
Manager Slaven Bilic also hands a start to striker Emmanuel Emenike following his two-goal performance against Blackburn, meaning the Nigerian loanee leads the line on his own.
Bilic also has the likes of Sam Byram, Cheikhou Kouyate and Dimitri Payet in what is a strong West Ham line-up, whilst the likes of Pedro Obiang, Alex Song, Andy Carroll and Victor Moses are all on the bench.
Meanwhile, Allardyce's Sunderland arrive just one point away from safety, and a win this afternoon would give his side a real chance of survival.
Former West Ham striker Jermain Defoe leads the line for Sunderland, and will be hoping to make a successful goalscoring return to East London.
Tottenham loanee DeAndre Yedlin starts at right back, whilst Wahbi Khazri and Dame N'Doye will be supporting Defoe from wide areas.
On the bench, Allardyce has the likes of Jack Rodwell, Fabio Borini, Ola Toivonen and Seb Larsson as substitutes, whilst talented young goalkeeper Jordan Pickford remains as Vito Mannone's backup having been recalled from this loan at Preston in January.
