The midfielder was poor against Stoke City today.
Aston Villa's painful season continued this evening as they were defeated 2-1 by Stoke City at The Britannia Stadium.
The result is essentially meaningless, as no Villa fan truly holds any hope of survival after a terrible campaign.
Villa sit well off the pace at the foot of the Premier League table and despite the scoreline today were once again played off the park in The Potteries.
As per usual the Villa players got plenty of stick on Twitter after the game.
But one man who got it in the neck worst was Ashley Westwood.
The central midfielder has remained a first-team regular throughout the campaign but would admit himself he has not had the best of seasons.
An honest and hard-working player he has unfortunately been found wanting this term and today he was again torn to ribbons in the heart of Villa's midfield.
He gave away the penalty for Stoke's opening goal and had little to no positive impact on the game.
Villa fans were ruthless in their online criticism and here is some of the best (clean) reaction from the Villa faithful on Twitter...
Is Westwood the worst player to ever wear a Villa shirt? Got to be up there #avfc— Savo Jones (@savoavfc) February 27, 2016
I'd have been over the moon if Westwood was leaving, painfully average player at best #avfc— IanGogo (@iangogo3) February 27, 2016
Honestly don't know how anybody thinks Westwood offers anything but disgustingness #avfc— tonksy (@dicktonksy) February 27, 2016
Why does and how does Westwood ever get in the first XI for Aston Villa?!? Absolutely woeful and inept player! #AVFC— Richard Armstrong (@RicardoAVFC) February 27, 2016
1-0 Stoke, from the penalty spot. Clumsy from Westwood to concede for #avfc. Poor.— Villa Underground (@avfc_vilr) February 27, 2016
Westwood has never been good enough to play for Aston Villa. Still won't be next season. #avfc— Jim (@MT_Jim) February 27, 2016
And also yet another example of why Westwood shouldn't even be on the bench. He is a league two player at best. #AVFC— Stuart Hinton (@stueyhinton) February 27, 2016
Westwood. Already said he is staying. Is and will be club mainstay. Meh. #avfc— Jeremiah P-Dub (@jeremiahsays) February 27, 2016
Westwood has well and truly ruined another Saturday afternoon then #avfc— Andrew Stone (@Stoney_1991) February 27, 2016
