The midfielder is a bit hit among the Blues faithful.
The midfielder has found his game time seriously reduced this season, with a series of niggling injuries having seen him spend considerable time on the treatment table.
When he has played, though, he has been in fine form, putting in a number of impressive displays in the heart of the Everton midfield.
That has endeared him to the Blues faithful, and Martinez has said that he is not surprised they have taken to him so well.
“It’s been great to see Mo at full flow and playing at this level. He is someone that is going to have a big say from now until the end of the season,” he told Evertonfc.com.
“You look at history and that type of player, Evertonians really appreciate that kind of player who wins the ball in challenges when you don’t think there is the right to win it. What I appreciate about Mo is that the bigger the challenge, the bigger the response."
Martinez will now be keen to have Besic back and fully fit until the end of the season given the impact he has had when fit.
The Blues could certainly do with his influence in midfield, with him providing the sort of defensive steel that has been sorely lacking from their defence again this season.
Getting into that midfield is sure to be a tough ask, though, with James McCarthy having returned and also impressed alongside Gareth Barry doing the exact same role Besic thrives in.
