Rashford, who is just 18 years of age and plays as a striker, enjoyed a dream debut for Manchester United on Thursday evening.
The teenager was initially named as a substitute for the Europa League round of 32 second-leg tie against FC Midtjylland at Old Trafford.
However, a hamstring injury picked by Anthony Martial during warm-up saw the youngster drafted into the Red Devils’ starting lineup
Rashford had a debut to remember, as he scored twice and played a key role in the 5-1 win for Louis van Gaal’s side.
Thompson, who is 19 years of age and plays as a midfielder, has given his reaction to Rashford’s heroics on Twitter.
The Rangers youngster was on the books of United from 2011 until 2015 and played with Rashford for the youth team.
