Should Fiorentina's Nenad Tomovic have been sent off in the first half against Tottenham?
Fiorentina defender Nenad Tomovic was fortunate to escape with a yellow card after thrusting his face into that of Tottenham defender Ben Davies.
As the Welshman appealed to the referee to take action, Tomovic got a little too close to comfort, with the image above suggesting he was gently headbutting the Tottenham defender.
Tomovic was booked shortly after the incident, but not for his physicality, but for dissent instead.
While it would be wrong to suggest Tomovic was unduly violent, players have been sent off for similar acts of aggression in the past.
The difference here was that Davies did not go down as if he had been pole-axed, attempting to over play the incident.
Tomovic was the player involved with a clash with Dele Alli in the first leg in Italy, in which the Tottenham midfielder was booked for kicking out at the Serbian.
Tottenham went on to win the clash, progressing to the last 16 of the Europa League and getting revenge for last year's exit at the hands of Fiorentina.
