Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen said on BT Europe on Wednesday night (February 24) following the Champions League tie between Dynamo Kiev and Manchester City that Chelsea still have a chance of progressing to the quarter-finals of the premier club competition.
Owen has also predicted City to go through and believes that Arsenal will get knocked out.
“Looks like Arsenal are out, looks like City are through, that’s the only toss of a coin, and you can certainly make a case for them (Chelsea) getting through,” said the former Newcastle United striker.
Arsenal lost the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie 2-0 against Barcelona at the Emirates Stadium in North London on Tuesday evening.
Chelsea lost 2-1 to Paris Saint-Germain in France last week, while City won 3-1 against Dynamo Kiev in Europe on Wednesday evening.
Based on first-leg results, it does appear that Arsenal are out and City are through. Chelsea will fancy their chances of progressing to the quarter-finals, especially as they have an away goal.
On paper, PSG are a better team than the Blues, but Guus Hiddink’s side have been playing well in recent weeks.
An early goal for Chelsea in the second leg at Stamford Bridge could prove to be massive for the Premier League giants.
