Liverpool were drawn against Manchester United in the Europa League after overcoming Augsburg at Anfield.

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet said that some of the players were still training while the Reds were handed a sensational Europa League last-16 tie against Manchester United.

Mignolet was speaking to the media ahead of another huge game for the Reds as they prepare for the League Cup final against Manchester City on Sunday.

He told reporters, as per the Liverpool Echo: "It's a fixture to look forward to. Being in Europe you want to face European teams but it's Man United and we look forward to it."

He was alongside manager Jurgen Klopp who told the assembled media that he said to his staff he wanted the historic clash with the Reds' great rivals.

He said: “We had a good game and lost 1-0. It was not what we deserve. It gives us the chance to make it better. In this round, there is no easy games. Manchester United? Good.

"It feels now after this draw that it will be Liverpool v Manchester - like always."

Klopp alluded to the fact that four of Liverpool's next five games will be against the two Manchester clubs, but was pleased with his side's performance against Augsburg, as the Reds progressed 1-0 thanks to a James Milner penalty.

There wasn't much reaction from the players on social media. Mignolet himself posted a message on Instagram:

Mamadou Sakho seemed to be doing his Mamadou Sakho thing on social media as he got a couple of teammates with him in a picture:

Joao Carlos Teixeira seems delighted to just be involved in the competition after he was omitted from the European squad in the first half of the season:

Dejan Lovren, who was absent last night, just tweeted the draw. Was he shocked? Delighted? Who knows?
