Gillespie has described Liverpool as an European minnow following the Europa League last-16 draw on Friday afternoon.
The Reds will face Premier League rivals United for a place in the quarter-finals of the prestigious European club competition.
What's the chances? United getting drawn against another European minnow again— Keith Gillespie (@KeithGillespie7) February 26, 2016
United and Liverpool are two of the biggest names left in the Europa League this season, and both will be determined to win the competition.
The first leg of the last-16 tie between the two Premier League teams will be held at Anfield on March 10, with the second leg to be played at Old Trafford a week later.
With a top-four finish for either side looking unlikely, the Europa League provides them with an alternative route of qualifying for the 2016-17 Champions League campaign.
Although neither United nor Liverpool have a particularly great team, the Europa League games at Anfield and Old Trafford will be fascinating to watch.
