Injury meant Harry Kane was a spectator as Tottenham took on Fiorentina, but his team managed to do the business without him.
Spurs saw off the Italian side which knocked them out last season, winning 3-0 at White Hart Lane.
Kane was out with a broken nose sustained against Crystal Palace, but was cheering on his team via social media.
He celebrated when teammate Ryan Mason netted the opener, and praised the performance after the final whistle.
The win without Kane was an important one, as Tottenham showed themselves and any doubters, that they can do the business.
Kane also received a much needed rest, and may be kept in reserve against Swansea City at the weekend with a crucial pair of games against West Ham United and Arsenal in the following week.
Nacer Chadli started up front and did not score, but he had the shot which rebounded for Erik Lamela to net the game's second, effectively wrapping up the tie before an own goal made it 3-0.
