Gallery: Nervy night as Liverpool keep Europa League dream alive

Liverpool were 1-0 winners of Augsburg at Anfield, booking their place in the last-16 of the Europa League in the process.

It may not have been the most comfortable way to progress in the competition, but it was certainly job done for Liverpool as they edged out Augsburg at Anfield to book their place in the last-16 of the Europa League.

The Reds got off to a good start with James Milner putting the side ahead from the penalty spot following a handball from Dominik Kohr.

The home side had more chances and could've put the game beyond doubt as Daniel Sturridge and Jordan Henderson were among those who could've found the net.

The lack of cutting edge set up a nervy finale and allowed the Bundesliga side to come back into the game in the latter stages.

But the Reds eventually got the job done and keep their hopes of progressing into the latter stages of the competition alive, knowing the prize if they win the tournament is not only a place in next season's Champions League, but also equalling Sevilla's record in the competition - with the La Liga side four-time winners of the UEFA Cup.

Here's a selection of the best images from last night's action at Anfield:
