It is an exciting time to be a West Ham United fan. The club are flying high in the Premier League, playing exciting football and from next season they will be playing in a brand new stadium.

The club are moving in to the Olympic Stadium, leaving the Boleyn Ground behind.

This week saw a big landmark in the move to the new stadium. The stadium has now been fitted with claret seats to go with the club's famous colour-way.

West Ham players Cheikhou Kouyate, Pedro Obiang and Sam Vokes went to their new ground to help put in the first new seats at the ground.

Speaking about the future of the club the Senegalese midfielder Kouyate had this to say about the stadium:

“When I signed it was an ambition to play here, but it felt far away,” he said. “Now, it’s only a few months and it’s exciting for everyone.

“It’s going to be full, which is amazing. The fans have shown that we belong at a Stadium like this, one of the best in Europe.

“The colours are very important. It’s our history and our identity. This is our home and it’s going to look like our home. The fans are going to love it.”

Kouyate mentions the desire to play at the new stadium as being on his mind when he signed his deal at the club.

There is no doubt going forward that their new stadium is going to prove a big lure for West Ham in their hunt for new players to take the team forward.
