Stupid... Ronny Deila's response when asked about starting Celtic's exciting young trio

The Bhoys boss isn't really in favour of making too many changes...

Ronny Deila says it would be 'stupid' to change the Celtic side just when they are building momentum, according to the Herald.

And that means the Norwegian is not in favour of starting the likes of Ryan Christie, Scott Allan and Patrick Roberts.

The exciting young trio recently came off the bench for Celtic - and to good effect. But Deila says they won't be starting as there is a strong competition for places at Parkhead.

He is instead keener to use the knowledge he has effective substitutes that can come on and change a game off the bench.

The Norwegian is quoted as telling reporters: "They're closer because they played very well when they came on. That's the way to do it - show in training and in matches that they want to be part of the team.

"But it's stupid to change the whole team when we're building up momentum. But it's good for me to know we have players on the bench coming on.

"There are others who didn't come on at the weekend who can also do good things. We are a team and we have three games in nine days."

Christie recently discussed Celtic's bright future with the likes of himself, Allan and Roberts at Parkhead.

Should they be given more chances, though, or is Deila right to hold firm and emphasise consistency within his Celtic team selections?

The Hoops travel to Hamilton Academical in the Scottish Premiership on Friday night.
