West Ham United continue their impressive campaign this weekend when they host the Black Cats.
West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has been speaking to reporters ahead of his side’s Premier League match against Sunderland on Saturday, with his comments later posted on the club’s official Twitter account.
The Hammers have been blighted by injury this season but Bilic had some good news as his side heads into the business end of a campaign that still offers so much.
“A few players are back which is positive,” the Croatian said. “We saw (Manuel) Lanzini was back at Blackburn, (Diafra) Sakho began training this week and he needs more time, but Andy (Carroll) is back, too.
“Winston (Reid) has begun training as well but maybe won’t be available for Saturday. It is positive with the players coming back.”
West Ham have coped well despite a string of absences but it is the recent return of summer signing Dimitri Payet that has really pushed them on both in the league and the FA Cup.
The Frenchman’s performance in the fifth round of the cup against Blackburn Rovers was wonderful and on this evidence West Ham could push for the trophy, provided they can overcome Manchester United at Old Trafford in the quarter-finals.
But before that it is all about the match against Sunderland, and with the Black Cats impressing in recent weeks the Hammers will need to be at their best to get another three points on the board.
