Sheffield Wednesday boss discusses Sam Hutchinson's chances of featuring against Hull

The midfielder has missed the Owls' last three games in the Championship.

Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal has hinted that Sam Hutchinson could feature for the Owls in their upcoming game with Hull City, the Sheffield Star reports.

The midfielder has missed Wednesday's last three games due to the knee injury which forced him off during the opening stages of the clash with Birmingham at the start of the month (via Star). But the Portuguese has confirmed that the 26-year-old will be in contention to feature against the Tigers.

"I think Sam will be available," he told the Star.

"He will travel and is ready if we need him to play."

While the former Chelsea man's absence did not hit the side hard initially, as they went on to beat the Blues and followed that up by thrashing Brentford 4-0, their last two results suggests that his return will be warmly welcomed, should he feature against Steve Bruce's men.

They fell to a narrow defeat away at Preston and then could only manage a draw with Queens Park Rangers - though they were perhaps unlucky not to secure all three points as they missed a penalty and were denied another spot-kick later in the game - but Carvalhal will know that having Hutchinson's fighting spirit back in the squad could make a huge difference against the league leaders as his presence will unquestionably make them much more difficult to break down.
