It is now thought that the London club have been impressed with what they have seen on the training pitch from Ford, with the player having scored the winner for the club's Under-18 side against Aston Villa, and will consequently move quickly to sign him on a permanent basis in the summer.
Ford's youth scholarship at Ipswich expires in June, and West Ham are reportedly eager to secure his signature as they see him as another star of the future.
The teenager would likely be keen on a move to Upton Park, with the Irons having established a reputation a club strong at developing youth talent.
James Tomkins and Mark Noble are two current first-team regulars to have come through the Hammers academy, whilst Reece Oxford has been the breakout star of this season at only two years older than Ford.
Meanwhile, fellow teenagers Reece Burke and Josh Cullen have also made their senior debuts for the club in recent times.
