Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is considering resting key players for the return match against Barcelona.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is to risk an embarrassing result in the Nou Camp as he considers resting his top stars.
The Times report the likes of Mesut Ozil and Laurent Koscielny could be left out, with Barcelona already holding a commanding 2-0 lead.
That leaves the Gunners with a steep hill to climb in Spain, and Wenger has already conceded, speaking to Arsenal's official website, that Barcelona have a 95 per cent chance of progressing to the quarter-finals.
Leaving out his top stars would only increase this estimate further, and risk not just an embarrassing aggregate scoreline, but a big one on the night too.
Barcelona have proved time and time again they can rack up big scorelines over top teams, just take the 6-1 home victory over a full strength Roma side earlier in the season in the Champions League.
With Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Luis Suarez in attack they may even be able to do so over Arsenal's full strength team, let alone a weakened one.
The games is days before an away trip to Everton in the Premier League, and Wenger has one eye on a result at Goodison, but heading to Merseyside on the back of a thumping in Spain will not be a good way to go into the game.
