Ray Parlour suggests Harry Kane's injury absence is good news for Tottenham Hotspur's title chances

The England international suffered a broken nose against Crystal Palace at the weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur face Fiorentina in the Europa League tonight but do so without their main goal threat.

The club are without Harry Kane - after the England international broke his nose against Crystal Palace at the weekend.

He is expected to be back fit for their next Premier League tie and it seems one former Arsenal player believes that should be their main concern.

Speaking to Sky Sports News today Ray Parlour suggested that the club needed Kane more in the Premier League- suggesting his absence tonight could be a bonus:

"It could be (good for him to have a breather). It definitely could be a bonus.

"I think the league is the most important thing for Spurs. They are going so well at the moment and they rely on Harry Kane for the goals so much. He has not really got a lot of back-up.

"They want to be competitive in the Europa League but I still think the league is there for them as well. As much as Arsenal, Leicester, Man City - Spurs are really in with a good opportunity this season.

"Their main objective is the top four. Which they look like they are going to get this season."

It is an interesting view to take. With this injury Kane has taken the temptation out of Mauricio Pochettino's hands to play him tonight in the Europa League.

With that in mind the striker can relax and come into the game with Swansea City on Sunday masked but fresh.

Spurs are just two points behind league leaders Leicester City and if they are to end up winning the title this season the goals of Kane in these final few months will be crucial to their chances.

So maybe Parlour is right, this week's midweek break might do wonders for the Tottenham striker and their title chances.
