Bristol City boss Lee Johnson sympathises with his mate Dougie Freedman over Nottingham Forest transfer embargo

Holloway & Freedman

The pair know each other after being on the same coaching course.

Nottingham Forest take on Bristol City this weekend with their slim play-off hopes now seemingly faded. After an excellent unbeaten streak at the start of the year Forest have lost their last two Championship games and now look set for a mid-table finish.

Bristol City meanwhile are trying their hardest to remain out of the relegation zone. They were thrashed by Brighton in midweek but still remain clear of the bottom three.

The match will see Lee Johnson and Dougie Freedman come reacquainted. The pair were on the Uefa Pro Licence coaching course together, as revealed by Johnson earlier today.

He also expressed his sympathy for Freedman in his battle to work wonders at the City Ground under a transfer embargo.

He stated to his press conference today, as reported by the Bristol City Twitter account:

"I know Dougie Freedman well as we were on our Pro Licence together. The transfer embargo hasn't helped them really."

Considering the fact Freedman has been boxing with one hand behind his back in the transfer market at the club he has done well with his recruitment.

Nelson Oliveira, Matt Mills, Dani Pinillos and Bojan Jokic have all proved good signings and when the embargo is lifted Forest fans will be excited to see who he can get his hands on.
