Watford have been linked with the Austrian defender.
According to a recent report from Austrian website Laola1, Watford are interested in signing Rapid Vienna left-back Stefan Stangl in the summer, and if the claims are true the Hornets would be bringing in a player with plenty to offer.
Stangl may be a defender by trade but his ability to both score and create should not be understated and if he can bring his good form to the Premier League he would offer another attacking option to Quique Sanchez Flores’s side.
So far this season Stangl has scored four goals and provided four assists in 31 appearances and he also has experience of playing in both the Champions League and the Europa League, something that could come in handy if Watford kick on in the next few seasons and qualify for Europe.
Stangl is a relatively versatile player who is able to operate on the left wing if required, although his best work at both ends of the field is done when he plays as a full-back.
With a contract that expires in the summer of 2017 he is unlikely to cost a considerable amount and that will be another appealing factor for a Watford side who may struggle to improve on the players already at their disposal.
At 24, arguably still a few years from his peak and with the talent required of modern day full-backs, Stangl is definitely a player worth pursuing.
