Former West Ham ace Trevor Sinclair has taken to Twitter to urge fans to give Sunderland's Sam Allardyce a warm reception this weekend.
West Ham, buoyant after their 5-1 FA Cup win over Blackburn Rovers on Sunday, are back at Upton Park this weekend, as they host Sunderland in the Premier League.
The two teams need the points for very different reasons; West Ham are looking to consolidate their spot in a European qualification place, whilst Sunderland are fighting against relegation, and need wins to pull themselves up and out of the bottom three.
The most fascinating sub-plot to the game is that Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce makes his first return to West Ham since losing his job as their manager back in May.
'Big Sam' spent four years in the Upton Park dugout, winning 37.6% of his games in charge, not only winning instant promotion back to the Premier League in the 2011-12 season, but also establishing the Hammers as a stable, mid-table Premier League side again.
Allardyce did a fine job at West Ham but was replaced by Slaven Bilic last summer, and now takes his Sunderland side to East London in search of revenge over his former employers.
Now, former Hammers midfielder Trevor Sinclair has taken to Twitter in order to urge West Ham fans to give Big Sam the reception he deserved for all his work at Upton Park, as he makes his final ever trip to the stadium as a manager, given that West Ham move into the Olympic Stadium at the end of the season.
How will you react to Allardyce's return to Upton Park?
