With 19 Premier League goals, Jamie Vardy is expected to be among the candidates for PFA Player of the Year after spearheading Leicester City's fairytale campaign so far.
But one Foxes fan is keen to honour the 29-year-old's blistering season in slightly more unconventional fashion after convincing his pregnant partner to name their daughter after the striker, according to The Sun.
Ashley Marriott claims that his partner has agreed to the middle name of 'Vardy' - but only if her better half receives 5,000 signatures on an online petition to greenlight the motion.
Marriot wrote on Twitter: “Me and my partner are expecting a girl 19th june, during the euro’s, where im sure vardy will be :)
“She has agreed i can have Vardy as a middle name if i can reach 5,000 leicester fans to sign this , which i think is a easy target id be confident of 10,000 + signitures me and my unborn daughter will be forever greatful.”
Only 108 people have signed the petition so far, leaving Marriot 4892 supporters away from his target.
Along with Riyad Mahrez, Vardy has been instrumental in what has proven a hugely encouraging season for table-topping Leicester, who sit two points clear of Tottenham Hotspur in second.
Vardy, who played for Fleetwood Town as recently as 2012, could become the subject of a Hollywood film following his journey from a non-league striker to one of the Premier League's finest marksmen.
Claudio Ranieri's side, who have 12 league games in which to see out their two-point advantage, host Norwich City on Saturday.
