More to come from Sturridge says Liverpool teammate Caulker

Daniel Sturridge

The striker recently returned to the first team line up with a bang in the 6-0 win over Aston Villa.

There are many more exciting contributions to come from Daniel Sturridge, defender Steven Caulker has told Sky Sports.

The Liverpool striker has once again spent a vast majority of time on the treatment table this season as he suffered a series of niggling injuries.

He is now back fully fit though, and returned to the first team for the 6-0 win over Aston Villa two weeks ago, scoring the opening goal of the game.

Indeed it was an all round impressive display from Sturridge, who showed the sort of incisive finishing that Jurgen Klopp’s side have been sorely missing.

Despite impressing, Caulker says there is much more to come from his teammate, potentially in the Capital One Cup final against Manchester City.

"He's looking sharp and strong, hopefully it's time for a bit of luck on his side and he can stay injury free,” he told Sky Sports.

"He's one of our best players, and he's proved that since he came straight back in with a goal against Aston Villa.”

“I'm sure there's many more exciting things to come from him until the end of the season."

The Reds will now be hoping they can keep Sturridge fit for the remainder of the season given how they have struggled without him.

He is not the only one they will hope can maintain their fitness though, with the return of Philippe Coutinho also having shown how badly he has been missed.

If they could keep both fit, it seriously improves their hopes of not only being City in the cup final, but also securing a top six finish this season.
