Report: Stoke City's Jack Butland to remain at club for next season

Butland may want another season as Stoke's number one before thinking about moving on.

Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland is keen to remain at the Britannia Stadium for at least one more season, according to a report in the Stoke Sentinel.

Butland is a highly rated keeper and has been linked with several Premier League clubs throughout the season - with the report suggesting a 'discreet inquiry' has been made from one club about his services - but it seems that he will be with the Potters for at least another season.

Those close to Butland are said to be of the opinion that another full season at the club will serve him well in terms of his career, citing previous Stoke number one Asmir Begovic who moved to Chelsea in the summer, and despite featuring in the early part of the season - he has been the second choice goalkeeper behind Thibaut Courtois.

It does mention that there could be a review of his current contract, which runs until 2019 but was signed when he wasn't the first choice keeper, and that Butland does have ambitions of playing in the Champions League at some stage in the near future.

If that is the case it would not be surprising to see a new deal offered to Butland with a release clause of some sort to allow Butland get a move if and when he wants one, and for Stoke to get the fee they feel their goalkeeper is worth.

He has impressed several in the Premier League this season, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him command a large fee in the future.
