Report: Arsene Wenger keen to buy new striker for Arsenal in the summer

The Gunners boss reportedly wants to add to the three currently at his disposal.

Arsene Wenger is keen to add a striker to his squad in the summer transfer window, reports the Mirror.

However, it seems that he does not believe that his squad is in need of the world-class centre forward that many believe his squad is lacking.

Instead, it is thought that the Frenchman believes he has decent options with the three forwards he currently has at his disposal.

Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck are his current options through the middle, with Giroud in particular having impressed this season.

Despite that, he is keen to add a centre forward to his squad to supplement them, and it will not necessarily be an established superstar Arsenal target, according to the Mirror report.

Much is likely to rest on whether they can keep Welbeck fully fit for an extended period of time.

The striker has only recently returned from a long-term injury, making an immediate impact as he scored the winning goal in the 2-1 win over Leicester City.

Injuries have very much been an issue across his career though, and should he pick up another one at some point, that could change Wenger’s stance considerably.
