Wolves line up for Wednesday's Helan

HITC Sport understands Wolves are eyeing defender Jeremy Helan from Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have lined up a loan move for Sheffield Wednesday defender Jeremy Helan as they look to bolster their squad, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett is desperate to add to his squad in the emergency loan window and has made a new left-back one of his top targets.

Jackett has identified several targets, but he has made former Manchester City youngster Helan his top target to help his side out of their current slump in form.

Wolves have failed to win any of their last seven games and Tuesday's defeat to Brentford has left them languishing in 15th spot in the Championship, 14 points off the play-off spots.

Helan has been in and out of the Wednesday side this season due to Carlos Carvalhal’s squad rotation policy at Hillsborough.

The 23-year-old has made 22 appearances in all competitions for Wednesday so far this season, but 14 of those outings have come off the bench.

Helan is keen to go out on loan to get some regular first-team action under his belt and Jackett is hoping to have the Frenchman on board before this weekend's clash with midlands rivals Derby County.
