Middlesbrough signed Jordan Rhodes from Blackburn Rovers during the January transfer window.

Jordan Rhodes’ finishing may not have been up to his usual standards yesterday evening, but he still managed to impressed Middlesbrough fans with his performance against Cardiff City.

Boro beat the Welsh side 3-1 at the Riverside Stadium last night, as they picked up their first victory for five matches.

And Rhodes, who was the club’s marquee signing in January, was a constant threat throughout the contest.

The Scotland international troubled the Cardiff defence throughout the contest, with his work rate and hold up play catching the eye.

Rhodes is generally noted as a penalty-box finisher, but he was guilty of missing a host of chances.

Thankfully for the 28-year-old his uncharacteristic lack of composure in front of goal did not come back to haunt him, as his teammates were more ruthless.

An own goal from Matthew Connolly set Boro on their way, before goals from Gaston Ramirez and Dave Nugent completed the triumph.

Rhodes’ display still was the talk of social media after the match, though, with many Boro fans impressed with his unselfish play. Here’s the best reaction on Twitter.
