Michail Antonio has heralded West Ham United team-mate Dimitri Payet, noting that his combination of steel and silk is a huge reason behind his rip-roaring first season in England.
Payet, an £11 million summer signing from Marseille, enhanced his burgeoning reputation with a superb brace in the 5-1 FA Cup win at Blackburn Rovers last week to make it nine goals in all competitions so far.
Along with his goalscoring, the 28-year-old playmaker has also courted praise for his classy style of play, but Antonio says that it would be a mistake to overlook his unrelenting work ethic.
“Dimitri Payet is a dream to play with and he is definitely the best player I have played with in my career," he told West Ham's official website.
“His vision, his work-rate – he is not one of these flair players that makes everyone else get the ball for him and then does damage. He will go and win the ball back himself and then cause damage. He does both – the gritty side and the flair."
With United seventh in the table, West Ham fans will hope that their go-to-guy can maintain his heroics for a while longer yet as Slaven Bilic's side chase European qualification.
