Jay Rodriguez has posted a message on his Twitter account confirming that he is back in full training with Southampton.
Rodriguez has played just 12 games for the Saints this season, having started pre-season at full fitness after recovering from another long-term injury.
He started the campaign playing regularly, but in the middle of October he was struck down by an ankle problem which has kept him out for the following months.
There is still no confirmed return date for the attacker, but Rodriguez should be back in the coming weeks now that he is back in full training.
His return will be a welcome boost for Ronald Koeman, who could utilise Rodriguez in the final stages of the season to lead the Saints into Europe.
Since Fraser Forster’s return to the first-team, Southampton have won five of their last six games, drawing the other one, and have not conceded a goal in that run.
They are sitting in sixth place in the Premier League table, and Rodriguez’s return could push the Saints further up the table - and maybe even into the top four.
