Sol Bamba admits Leeds United have nothing left to play for this season

Leeds United East Stand

Leeds United are set to take on Fulham at Elland Road later this evening.

Sol Bamba has admitted to LUTV that Leeds United have little left to play for this season, ahead of their match against Fulham tonight.

The Ivorian defender says that the Whites are determined to give their fans something to celebrate, by showing some good form at Elland Road - but he admits that only the team’s pride is on the line.

The Whites are comfortably clear of relegation, but they are stuck in 17th place in the Championship table, and some way back from the play off spots.

It means that the remainder of this season is likely to be used to as a platform to build for next campaign.

Evans has already been bullish about Leeds’ promotion chances next term, suggesting that if he is backed with funds he will get them into the play offs.

And Bamba wants Leeds to prove the quality they have in their squad, by putting in some more performances like they one they did against Middlesbrough in their last outing at Elland Road.

“We need to keep playing like we did against Middlesbrough,” Bamba said.

“I mean, every home game we want to win for them [the fans] and us. Obviously, there’s not much to play for but there’s no better feeling than to win at home.”

Leeds go into their match against Fulham having failed to win any of their last three matches.

If they are able to beat Slavisa Jokanovic’s side they could move up to 12th in the table, but a defeat would see the Cottagers leapfrog them in the standings.
