Should Aston Villa play their Under-21s for the rest of the season?

Aston Villa’s first-team lost to their Under-21s on Friday.

Remi Garde’s Aston Villa career may have hit new lows on Friday, seeing his senior side lose 3-0 to the Under-21 set-up at Bodymoor Heath.

Nine senior players were included in Garde’s team, but they were soundly defeated by an Under-21 team - although the younger side was led by Jordan Ayew.

The defeat would have seen Garde frustrated at his senior players, who have all seemingly thrown in the towel, and with weeks to go before the end of the season, the head coach could make a radical decision.

Garde could drop his senior players, and utilise these Under-21 stars for the rest of the campaign, knowing that they can be no worse than the first-teamers.

The experience could be vital for them in aiding their development into professional players, and the chance of playing consistent games could help Garde decide which of the youngsters he wants in his first-team at Villa Park next season.

Villa’s academy is held in high regard, and there are a selection of the youngsters who are considered extremely talented, and with the club’s season over, they may as well be given the chance to play in the Premier League.

It may be one good thing to come out of this dreadful season, and it could just have a positive impact for the future of Aston Villa.
