Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour suggested on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Monday morning (February 22) that West Ham United’s Dimitri Payet is a player he would pay to watch.
"He is a real talent," said Parlour. "He is one of those sort of players that you pay to watch. You will go in, pay your admission fee, and say, ‘Look, at least I am going to see something today and see a little bit of action’.”
Parlour’s comments are the ultimate compliment to Payet, who has been one of the best players in the Premier League so far this season.
The France international attacking midfielder is a joy to watch, and he is the main reason why West Ham are doing so well at the moment.
The 28-year-old’s dribbling, set-piece skills, pace, work rate and shooting prowess are superb.
The fact that Parlour, who won the Premier League three times with Arsenal in his career, rates Payet so highly shows just how good the Frenchman is.
The former Marseille and Lille star has scored seven goals and created 67 chances in 19 league appearances so far this campaign.
Payet has a pass accuracy of 82% and a shot accuracy of 72%, and has won two headers, 47 dribbles and 12 tackles.
