Gibson was one of the youngsters to travel with Newcastle’s senior squad to La Manga, where Steve McClaren’s side have been training for the last week.
And Beardsley has suggested that he has heard good reports of Gibson’s impact, while training with the first-team.
"I believe 'Gippa' (Gibson) did well in Spain, so who knows - he might be involved with them and if he is, it's another great bonus,” Beardsley said.
Gibson travelled to Spain with fellow youth-teamer Jamie Sterry, and the pair both played a part in Newcastle’s friendly match against Lillestrom.
The Magpies won that fixture 2-1, and it seems that McClaren was impressed by Gibson’s performance.
The starlet is yet to make his competitive first-team debut, but he could be required to perform a covering role for the senior side in the coming weeks.
Newcastle are short of options at the back, especially after Fabricio Coloccini’s injury, meaning Gibson could be in line to receive a promotion.
Newcastle’s first match when they return from Spain comes against Stoke City on March 2nd, and if they are able to pick up the victory they could move out of the relegation zone.
