Oliver Burke tweets Nottingham Forest fans to explain absence

Oliver Burke was not in the Nottingham Forest squad selected to take on Burnley.

Nottingham Forest did not include Oliver Burke in their line-up or on the bench for this evening's Championship visit to Burnley.

The Scottish youth international has broken into the first team this season, with manager Dougie Freedman telling the Nottingham Post  a year ago he has the ability to emulate his former Crystal Palace protege Wilfried Zaha.

Burke has now explained the reason for his absence, using Twitter to confirm he has picked up an injury.

It is unclear how long the injury will keep Burke out for, with his time out dependent on the severity and nature of the break.

The 18-year-old midfielder has made 13 appearances in all competitions for Nottingham Forest this season, scoring two goals, both of which have been in the Championship.

Forest headed into the evening in 11th position in the table, having lost their last match at home to Huddersfield Town, a match which ended their unbeaten run, and was one in which Burke started.
