The Welsh defender has seemingly suggested that the playmaker is better than a certain international teammate on his day.
Payet once again showed his class during the Hammers' 5-1 thrashing of Blackburn in the FA Cup at the weekend, bagging two goals - including a stunning free-kick - and an assist. And the Wales defender - who has frequently lined up alongside Real Madrid star Gareth Bale while on international duty - did not hold back in his praise of the playmaker.
"When he is in the mood to play, there are not many better in the league," he said, as reported by Sky Sports.
"It is unbelievable what he does. When he is on it, I haven't played with or against anyone better.
"He is a magic player and the West Ham fans are seeing the best of it."
The 28-year-old has unquestionably been one of the best signings made by any Premier League club in the last few years. He has scored seven goals and has five assists for Slaven Bilic's side in the top flight, so it is hardly surprising that West Ham supporters get excited every time he gets onto the ball.
And if it had not been for an injury that kept him out for almost two months earlier in the campaign - including the entire Christmas period - it seems likely that the Irons would be even closer to the top four than they currently are.
