David James said on BT Sport 2 on Sunday afternoon (February 21) in the build-up to the FA Cup fifth-round tie between Blackburn Rovers and West Ham United at Ewood Park that he has been impressed with Michail Antonio.
When asked if Antonio has been an unsung hero for the Hammers this season, the former West Ham goalkeeper said: "I have to say, I would argue, that, in my case anyway, he has been a bit off the radar. His performances in the Cup this season have been pivotal."
Antonio joined West Ham from Championship side Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2015. It took the 25-year-old winger a while to adapt to the Premier League, but he is now an important player for the team.
The former Sheffield Wednesday man has scored three goals and created 10 chances in 14 league matches for West Ham so far this season.
Antonio has a pass accuracy of 65% and a shot accuracy of 39%, and has won 25 headers, 22 dribbles and nine tackles.
On Sunday against Blackburn, Antonio played at right-back, as the Hammers won the game 5-1 to progress to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
West Ham are seventh in the Premier League table at the moment with 40 points from 26 matches, seven points behind fourth-placed Manchester City.
Slaven Bilic’s side will return to action this weekend when they take on Sunderland at the Boleyn Ground in the league.
