Charlie Nicholas has told Sky Sports Soccer Saturday, which was broadcast on 20 February, that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele looks like he is playing slow motion, such is his elegance in possession.
Dembele has had his best season in English football this term, and he has established himself as a key part of Spurs’ starting line-up.
The Belgian midfielder has dictated the pace of matches for the Lilywhites, with his ability to glide past players proving to be a real threat.
And Nicholas said: “He never looks like he’s in a hurry. Everything he does is in slow motion. He’s such a naturally gifted player, and the only complaint I can make about him is he is all left-foot.
“He beats players so tightly. And he’s filtered in brilliantly with Eric Dier. He’s a lovely footballer.”
Dembele was bought to Spurs as an attacking midfielder, but he has thrived in a more defensive role of late.
At the start of the season there were actually doubts over whether Dembele still had a part to play at White Hart Lane.
However, he has firmly established his place in manager Mauricio Pochettino’s plans now and was rewarded with a new long-term contract recently.
The 28-year-old has made 26 appearances throughout the campaign so far and has managed to score on four occasions.
Dembele’s good form has helped Tottenham climb into second place in the Premier League table, with the North London side on the verge of claiming their highest league finish in recent memory.
