Alan Shearer suggests a difference between Dimitri Payet and other foreign players

Payet Skill

Dimitri Payet has been in superb form for West Ham United so far this season.

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has highlighted on how West Ham United attacking midfielder Dimitri Payet is different from other foreign players.

“He has been a fantastic find for the Hammers and it just goes to show that there are still bargains out there,” the former Newcastle striker wrote on

“We often hear that it takes foreign players a while to adapt to the pace and the power of the Premier League, but that has not been the case with Payet. He has taken the league by storm.”

Payet joined West Ham from French club Marseille in the summer of 2015 and has taken to the Premier League like a duck to water.

The 28-year-old attacking midfielder has scored seven goals and created 67 chances in 19 league appearances so far this season.

The France international has a pass accuracy of 82% and a shot accuracy of 72%, and has won two headers, 47 dribbles and 12 tackles.

The Premier League is a very physical and tough league, and it does take a few months for players coming from abroad to adapt.

Payet, though, took the English top flight by storm right from the start, and he does not seem to be slowing down.

The former Lille star may be 28 years of age, but he is playing brilliantly and is not showing any sign of tiredness at all.
