Former Manchester City winger Trevor Sinclair has backed Willy Caballero to start in goal for the Blues during Sunday's Capital One Cup final against Liverpool.
Caballero was heavily chastised for his role in City's 5-1 FA Cup defeat to Chelsea on Sunday, despite saving Oscar's second-half penalty at Stamford Bridge.
The Argentine, who has played in every round of the competition so far, is expected to keep his place at Wembley and Sinclair believes he has earned his starting berth.
The 42-year-old posted the following on Twitter on Thursday:
Caballero, who is in his second season at the Etihad Stadium following a £4.4m move from Malaga in 2014 (BBC Sport), has started 10 games for Manuel Pellegrini’s men this season but has managed to keep just two clean sheets - conceding 16 goals in that time.
The 34-year-old was also involved in two of City’s three heaviest defeats (Sunday’s hammering at Chelsea and the 4-1 reverse to Tottenham Hotspur in September) and swathes of Blues fans have called for the reinstatement of Joe Hart on Twitter.
Here is some of the best reaction to Caballero’s anticipated selection:

@ManCityMEN Shoud be dropped as simply not good enough for me. Play your best team in a final and stop messing about.— Paul Stringer (@PaulStringer7) February 23, 2016
