Report: Liverpool interested in Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma

Liverpool Ball

Liverpool are fighting some of Europe’s biggest clubs for the young goalkeeper.

Liverpool are reportedly showing an interest in Gianluigi Donnarumma of Milan, the Liverpool Echo reports.

The goalkeeper has been earning the title of wunderkind this season, having established himself as Milan’s first-choice goalkeeper at the age of just 16. Head coach Sinisa Mihajlovic opted to drop the experienced Diego Lopez for the teenage talent, and has been repaid excellently.

He has conceded just 13 goals in 17 games this season, keeping six clean sheets in the process, and arguably proving himself as the best young goalkeeper in world football.

He is said to be Gianluigi Buffon’s successor for the Italian national team, and should Donnarumma continue to improve, he will be a star for the next 20 years.

Due to Donnarumma’s form, he is obviously earning rave reviews, and has scouts from all over Europe checking him out.

One of the teams keeping an eye on him is Liverpool, whilst Tuttosport claim that Barcelona have already made an offer of £23.5 million for the keeper.

That offer has been rejected, but the Reds are looking to bring in a new goalkeeper to replace the poor Simon Mignolet - even though he did sign a new deal only a few months ago.

Donnarumma is the perfect long-term option for any club who want to sign a goalkeeper, but prising him away from Milan will be an extremely hard endeavour for the foreseeable future.
