West Ham United are through to the last eight of the FA Cup after a thumping victory.
West Ham United secured an emphatic victory against Blackburn Rovers in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Sunday and will now head to either Shrewsbury Town or Manchester United in the quarter-finals.
Braces from Dimitri Payet and Emmanuel Emenike and a strike from Victor Moses gave the Hammers a 5-1 win after Blackburn had initially taken the lead, and after the match a number of the Premier League side’s players took to Twitter to celebrate a famous day.
Unsurprisingly, man-of-the-match Payet had his say on social media, writing, “Great victory, Hammers. Many thanks to the 7,000 fans who followed us.”
Payet has been nothing short of sensational since he joined West Ham from Marseille last summer, yet injury struck recently to rob him of game-time.
However, on Sunday’s evidence he is back better than ever and if he can stay fit he could make the difference in West Ham’s pursuit of silverware this season.
Full-back Aaron Cresswell – one of West Ham’s unsung heroes this season – wrote, “Buzzing with the win today. Great win, looking forward to the draw now.”
When that draw came it paired West Ham with either Shrewsbury Town or Manchester United, with the two sides playing this evening.
Mark Noble, Darren Randolph and Pedro Obiang also had their say on a day none of them are likely to forget any time soon.
