Liverpool will take on Augsburg at Anfield in the second leg of the Europa League round of 32 on Thursday evening.
The first leg of the tie in Germany last week finished goalless, which means that a win by any margin will see the Reds through to the last 16.
Former Liverpool striker Owen has backed Jurgen Klopp’s side to finish the job at Anfield.
“I was in Germany last week and I wasn’t impressed with the Bundesliga outfit and would be surprised, and disappointed, if the Reds didn’t run out conclusive winners despite the visitors winning at Hanover at the weekend,” the former England international striker wrote on Betvictor.com.
A footnote added: “Michael’s recommendation; Liverpool halftime/fulltime at 6/5.”
Liverpool are a better team than Augsburg, and playing at home will give them an advantage.
Moreover, the Merseyside outfit were not in action this weekend, which means that they will be fresh for the tie.
With the Reds unlikely to finish in the top four of the Champions League this season, Liverpool should be looking at the Europa League as an alternative route to return to Europe’s premier club competition.
It will not be easy for Liverpool to win the Europa League this campaign, but they should still give it a go.
